Curriculum vitae
Jana studied viola at the Conservatory in České Budějovice and at the Institute of Artistic Studies, at the University of Ostrava. She has attended several masterclasses in the Czech Republic and abroad (Y. Bashmet, V. Hudeček, J. Talich, and others), and won 1st prize at the prestigious Beethovenův Hradec competition.
As a soloist, Jana has performed with orchestras both at home and abroad, including at festivals such as the Janáčkovy Hukvaldy festival and the Ludwig van Beethoven Music Festival in Teplice. She is a member of the Berg Orchestra and of the Pavel Haas chamber orchestra, and frequently records and broadcasts for Czech Radio and Television. Jana also enjoys creating her own programmes, and gives lectures on culture and the arts for children and adults.
Jana remains very much dedicated to the performance of early music, regularly attending courses on historical performance (I. Hubatschek, M. Štryncl) and working with groups such as Ensemble 18+, Musica Florea, The Czech Ensemble Baroque Orchestra, and Ensemble Fiorello. For several years she has also been actively involved in historical (particularly Baroque) dance, under the direction of dancer and choreographer Hana Slačálková.
